Profesor Contratado Doctor en la Universidad Complutense de Madrid. Estudios de geografía e historia y doctorado en la UCM. Ampliación de estudios en Moscú, Poznan (Polonia) y Francfort/Oder (Alemania).

 

Ha sido profesor contratado en la Europa-Universität Viadrina, de Francfort/Oder (1997-2000) y director de proyecto e investigador en el Centro de Investigación de Historia Contemporánea (Zentrum für Zeithistorische Forschung) en Potsdam, Alemania (2004-2008). Investigador invitado en el GWZO de Leipzig y en el ZZF, Potsdam/Georg Eckert Institut de Braunschweig.

 

Temas de interés:

Ha trabajado sobre historia de Europa Central y oriental, en especial, historia ruso-soviética y polaca y de la República Democrática Alemana. acionalismos, comunismos, dictaduras, memoria histórica, cultura visual, auto-representaciones biográficas, medios de comunicación de masas, historia del turismo, resistencia en la IIGM, policías políticas de los sistemas comunistas.

Miembro del Editorial Board de las revistas “National Identities” y de “Anuarul Institutului de Istorie Orală”, secretario de redacción de “Cuadernos de Historia Contemporánea”

 

Traductor literario de polaco, ruso y alemán al castellano. Asesor editorial sobre literaturas de Europa Central y Oriental para los sellos editoriales Bibliópolis y Alamut (Madrid).

He has worked on the history of Central and Eastern Europe, especially Poland, Soviet Russia and the German Democratic Republic during the communist period. Themes: nationalism, communism, dictatorships, historical memory, visual culture, biographical self-representations, mass media, tourism history, resistance in WWII, political police in communist systems.

 

Member of the Standing Committee for Humanities of the European Science Foundation (Strasbourg/Brussels).
